New blurb for Fate of the Jedi: Ascension
Posted: 20th April
RandomHouse.com[External site - opens in a new window/tab] has updated their online catalogue listing for the eighth Fate of the Jedi novel, Ascension by Christie Golden, with a new, fuller blurb. As this contains possible spoilers, highlight between arrow heads to read:

>>>How long can the Jedi remain in power?
How far will the Sith go to rule supreme?
What chance do both stand against Abeloth?

As Luke and Ben Skywalker pursue the formidable dark-side being Abeloth, the Lost Tribe of the Sith is about to be sundered by an even greater power—which will thrust one Dark Lord into mortal conflict with his own flesh-and-blood.
On Coruscant, a political vacuum has left tensions at the boiling point, with factions racing to claim control of the Galactic Alliance. Suddenly surrounded by hidden agendas, treacherous conspiracies, and covert Sith agents, the Jedi Order must struggle to keep the GA government from collapsing into anarchy.
The Jedi are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring just rule, but even they are not prepared to take on the combined threats of Sith power, a deposed dictator bent on galaxywide vengeance, and an entity of pure cunning and profound evil hungry to become a god.

Dark Horse reveal contents for future Omnibus editions
Posted: 17th April
Dark Horse Comics' editor Randy Stradley has revealed contents for future Star Wars Omnibus editions including collecting many rare comic stories from the 1980s as well as Clone Wars Omnibuses. Commenting on Dark Horse Comics' Message Boards[External site - opens in a new window/tab] Randy wrote:

"the coming year will see an omnibus of the UK Marvel material, Panini material, and even those Blackthorne stories which were originally published in red/blue 3-D. Also included in an upcoming Omnibus will be missing Hasbro material, unpublished stories from Star Wars Kids, and other stories which we have designated either "Unknown Regions," or "Wild Space."
"We're hoping to eventually collect all of the Star Wars comics material in one form or another. Still in the future: the Star Wars comics strips as they were originally presented.
"Oh, yeah, and along the way, we may find the time to publish a few original stories, too!
"

He also mentioned that Dark Horse Comics has also "begun planning Clone Wars Omnibuses, and have discovered that some stories are designated "X months/years after Episode II" and others are placed at "X months/years before Episode III." Cause for pause. And then, of course, there are some stories that were never given actual dates -- and others that were retconned to have occurred at slightly different times than originally indicated. Hoepfully, the Omnibus will become the "edition of record." Unless, of course, things change further!"

Clearly, Dark Horse Comics has no shortage of comic stories to republish as Omnibus editions. For more information on published Omnibus editions as well as known upcoming Omnibus releases, visit our Guide to Star Wars Omnibus Collections.

First blurb for Zahn's Choices of One
Posted: 9th April
Although the cover for Timothy Zahn's sequel story to 2007's Allegiance, Choices of One, has been available for some time, we have been without a blurb for it - until now. Updating their online catalogue publisher Random House[External site - opens in a new window/tab] has provided us with the first official blurb:

The fate of the Rebellion rests on Luke Skywalker’s next move.
But have the rebels entered a safe harbor or a death trap?

Eight months after the Battle of Yavin, the Rebellion is in desperate need of a new base. So when Governor Ferrouz of Candoras Sector proposes an alliance, offering the Rebels sanctuary in return for protection against the alien warlord Nuso Esva, Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie are sent to evaluate the deal.
Mara Jade, the Emperor’s Hand, is also heading for Candoras, along with the five renegade stormtroopers known as the Hand of Judgment. Their mission: to punish Ferrouz’s treason and smash the Rebels for good.
But in this treacherous game of betrayals within betrayals, a wild card is waiting to be played.

Choices of One by Timothy Zahn is due to be released in hardback in the US on 19th July.

Next Star Wars Adventures to feature Chewbacca
Posted: 8th April
Following his triumphant inclusion in the series finale of the third season of The Clone Wars animated TV series, it now looks like everybody's favourite 'furball' is to star in his very own comic story for Amazon.co.uk[External site - opens in a new window/tab] has listed what appears to be the sixth Star Wars Adventures story. Titled Chewbacca and the Slavers of the Shadowlands, Amazon's listing is for the UK edition from Titan Books and while giving very little information apart from the title, it does seem to include some erroneous information, e.g. Amazon list the contributors as Chris Cerasi and Jennifer Meyer - both of whom have never produced a comics story for Dark Horse Comics - although Cerasi has contributed to Star Wars but as author of the short story Crossroads and for children's publisher Grosset & Dunlap. Amazon also give the UK edition a release date of 23rd September -  a date we believe, certainly for the UK edition, to be highly optimistic.
(Source: Amazon.co.uk[External site - opens in a new window/tab] via NJOE.com[External site - opens in a new window/tab])

Amazon.co.uk[External site - opens in a new window/tab] has updated their listing with a blurb for the story:

Journey back nearly two hundred years before the events in A New Hope as Chewbacca relates a story from his youth on Kashyyyk. Determined to prove themselves eligible for the rites of adulthood, Chewie and his young friends venture into the perilous Shadowlands in search of adventure. But they find far more than they bargained for when they stumble upon slavers plotting a raid on the Wookiee village.
