[Crucible] Solicitation blurb for Crucible
Edelweiss[External site - opens in a new window/tab] has posted the solicitation blurb for Crucible, Troy Denning's post-Fate of the Jedi novel:

In the first big followup to Fate of the Jedi in more than a year, Han, Luke, and Leia are back in action-older and wiser, but as ready as ever to leap headlong into adventure!
The stunning follow-up to Fate of the Jedi! Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia have spent a lifetime fighting wars, bringing the Jedi back from extinction, raising families, and saving the galaxy more times than they can count. They've earned the right to rest on their laurels and let the younger generation shoulder the burden-but fate has another adventure in store for our heroes, a quest only they can tackle and hope to survive...

As has been noted previously, one of the book's Key Selling Points, right-hand sidebar, is that it "SETS UP NEW SERIES: With this book, Han, Luke, and Leia are passing the torch to the next generation of Star Wars heroes, and the stage will be set for the next major Star Wars series". We assume now that this "next major series" is a reference to Christie Golden's upcoming Sword of the Jedi trilogy, featuring Jaina Solo (as announced at Celebration VI). Or it could be a reference for Paul S. Kemp's as yet undisclosed duology (also discussed at Celebration VI).

Crucible is currently scheduled for release in hardback in the US on 9th July.

[Available now...] Star Wars #1
By Brian Wood, Carlos D'Anda, Gabe Eltaeb et al.
Reviewed by Ewan, Star Wars Books & Comics
a solid start to one of the most anticipated Star Wars comics of recent times [...] has more merit to it that some of the pre-existing stories [...] Wood achieves a remarkable amount of insight into our favourite characters post-Yavin [...] Luke is emotionally confused [...] Leia better understands the reality her of situation [...] Han may still be the cocky scoundrel from Episode IV but within him there is a realisation that things have undoubtly changed [...] the Dark Lord of the Sith is fearful: not of the Emperor's wrath but by a name - a name from his past [...] art is superb [...] captures Lucas's vision of a "lived-in universe" [...] colouring compliments Wood's story ... read full review

[Dawn of the Jedi] Blurb for Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void
Random House has published the first blurb for Tim Lebbon's upcoming Dawn of the Jedi tie-in novel Into the Void:
  • On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force—and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy.
Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency. The leader of a fanatical cult, obsessed with traveling beyond the reaches of known space, is bent on opening a cosmic gateway using dreaded dark matter as the key—risking a cataclysmic reaction that will consume the entire star system. But more shocking to Lanoree than even the prospect of total galactic annihilation, is the decision of her Je’daii Masters to task her with the mission of preventing it. Until a staggering revelation makes clear why she was chosen: The brilliant, dangerous madman she must track down and stop at any cost is the brother whose death she has long grieved—and whose life she must now fear.

Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void by Tim Lebbon is due for release in hardback in the US on 7th May.
