Darth Vader has been secretly pursuing his own agenda, but now it is time for the End of Games. As Inspector Thanoth returns with some startling information, it seems that Vader may have passed his master's tests. But even after finding favor in the eyes of the Emperor, the Dark Lord's schemes may yet prove his undoing. While killer droids Triple-Zero and Beetee wreak havoc in their own homicidal adventure, the Empire's dreadnought The Executor moves closer to launch.
But Vader faces tumultuous battles with the cybernetic Cylo - and himself! Lost in visions of the Force, is he now more machine than man? Or can he fight his way back from the brink to see his missions and machinations finally come to fruition? The imperial march of the dark side reaches a crescendo!

This story occurs between six and twelve months after Episode IV: A New Hope.

Review by Darth Kondorr, Poland, 2017:

"The finale to the best Marvel Ongoing series was a mixed bag of satisfying and average. I never liked Cylo and his gang, they were never properly portrayed as characters, only mere two-dimensional vilains with no real power to truly face off against our dark protagonist. All in all, this was a good enough read, it just did not truly justify the vast amounts of cash investment that Marvel's comic book go for these days.
Although the art was great I noticed one thing among almost all of their Star Wars titles: there were panels which might be intended to show movement, but the way it was portrayed I did not see the dynamic between panels. I did not understand what movement was suposed to be pictured.
Having read so many Marvel Star Wars books at this point I regret to say, that Dark Horse would be more fitting to do a proper reboot. Marvel is very bombastic and epic but also very flat. Character development is not their strong suit and as such the comics are by far the weakest entries within the whole multi-medium of the new expanded universe. I hope Marvel uses that room for improvement and fills it... with most impressive improvement."
